“I guess I really actually feel we shouldn’t contort the voting process to accommodate the urban — read African-American — voter-turnout machine,” Doug Priesse told reporters. “Let’s be fair and reasonable.”

Priesse is also a chairman of the Franklin County Republican Party.

Ohio’s Secretary of State Jon Husted regulated that all Ohio counties enable early voting Monday through Friday until 7 p.m. Early voting is permitted during the last two weeks before the election.

Weekend voting was responsible for over 93,000 Ohio votes three days prior to the 2008 election.

Churches across the county encouraged their congregations to take their “souls to the polls” on the Sunday preceding the 2008 election. Due to Husted ruling, this will no longer be available.
