A Morehouse College student was shot on campus Friday evening after an argument over a pick-up basketball game, a school spokeswoman said.

The student, who was not immediately identified, was wounded in the forearm at a gym at Samuel A. Archer Hall, spokeswoman Elise Durham said in a statement.

Four shots were fired, Durham said. The student was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported. The spokeswoman also did not provide the age or classification of the student.

“Police believe there are two suspects, and they are believed to be students of the Atlanta University Center, but have not yet been identified,” Durham said.

In addition to Morehouse College, the AUC consists of Morehouse School of Medicine, Clark Atlanta University and Spelman College.

Morehouse campus police, Clark Atlanta police and Atlanta police were involved in the investigation, the spokeswoman said.

On Twitter, the Morehouse Student Government Association said the shooting occurred around 5 p.m. on the steps of Archer Hall. The SGA said Atlanta police and campus police responded within minutes.

Atlanta police spokesman Officer John Chafee said earlier that the victim was “alert, breathing and conscious” when he was taken by paramedics to the hospital.
