Brennan’s Colony Tavern and Restaurant owner Jim Brennan died today after a shooting incident.

Cleveland Heights police responded to a shooting about 1 p.m. Monday at Brennan’s Colony in Cleveland Heights.

The Colony is closed on Mondays.

No one has been caught yet. The suspects are described as two, young black men between the ages of 17 and 21 years old.. One was wearing a grey hoodie, black pants, the other was dressed in all black.

Both had bandanas over their faces.

The restaurant and bar is located at 2299 Lee Road.

The City of Cleveland Heights released a statement shortly after 5 p.m. Monday:

“The City of Cleveland Heights expressed sadness over the senseless shooting of Jim Brennan, owner of the popular Brennan’s Colony Restaurant on Lee Road. Brennan was shot Monday afternoon in an attempted robbery and later died of his wounds.”

“Jim Brennan was a true leader in our community for many years. His enthusiasm for people, especially for children and families, made such a difference. His Colony Restaurant was the “go to place” after softball games, CYO tournaments and always a welcoming place for a good meal and good conversation” said Mayor Dennis Wilcox. “Jim hosted many charity and sports fundraisers including the annual Officer Jason West Scholarship Fund. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and his many friends. The City Council has authorized the City Manager and the Police Chief to use all available resources to bring those who committed this crime to justice.”
