Nearly three dozen people were charged with trafficking heroin and other drugs in a ring that authorities said brought the substances from Chicago to Akron and Ravenna.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the charges filed against 33 people: 15 were federally charged with roles in bringing the drugs to the area from Chicago and 18 face related state charges.

The state charges include trafficking, illegal manufacture of methamphetamine, permitting drug abuse and child endangering.
