DMX says he’s going back to his rap roots with his forthcoming album Redemption of the Beast, in which he vowed to “bring rap back where it’s supposed to be.”

He declared that rap is “too corny” right now and he’s going to bring his rough edged, in-your-face style back to the game. According to DMX he’s spent a lot of late nights in the studio perfecting his next album, which has Black Rob rooting in his corner.

“He was one of the reasons why I wanted to go so hard all the time in my music. When I met him, it was like, ‘Oh sh*t.’ When we were in the cipher, we were going in. You hear me? Like, going in because nobody was backing down.”

Are you excited for DMX’s return?
