At some point in any relationship there’s bound to be a moment when you question your partner’s faithfulness. If you’re a celebrity, those moments are probably magnified by a hundred with constant tabloid rumors flying around, and if you’re Chris Brown’s girlfriend Karrueche Tran—well, I couldn’t do it.
For a while the rumors about Chris Brown and Rihanna hooking up just seemed like silly celebrity gossip—a bunch of possible subtweets, maybe they were at the same industry party and looked at each other—it was nothing to make you want to break up with the man. But now we know for a fact that Chris and Rihanna have been spending time together. The only question is, is it all work and no play?
Rihanna has a big surprise for the music world next week. She’s dropping a remix to the track “Birthday Cake” from her latest album “Talk the Talk,” and the guest collaborator is none other than C Breezy. According to Miss Info, Chris has both a singing and a rap verse on the track, confirming spottings of the two leaving the same recording studio a week ago. I’m not sure I’d want my boyfriend making music with his ex, but worse things could happen—like being boo’d up with your ex at her private b-day party—yeah, these two are definitely doing more than working. (I wonder what Jay-Z thinks about all this.)
There are conflicting reports about how Chris got to Rihanna’s party, but what can’t be denied is the fact that he was there. One set of sources says he left Karrueche in the car while he made a lengthy appearance, which I just can’t see any woman standing for. But I also have a hard time believing he showed up to the private affair with Rih Rih on his arm. That could explain rumors that he wanted everyone there to sign confidentiality agreements about his presence, but that word is most definitely false—unlike the non-platonic chemistry that was seen between the two that night. And where was he the next day? At LAX with Karrueche.
I’m wrecking my brain putting together the pieces so I can’t imagine what it would be like to be right in the middle of the drama as Chris’ girl. Except for a video of Karrueche singing lyrics to Rihanna’s songs and saying things like “I love him and he don’t love me,” (shots fired) we never really hear from the stylist and aspiring model on her relationship or cheating rumors. That’s probably a good thing though, considering Rihanna’s Twitter-lashing ability, but at some point I’d have to tell Chris have a seat and pass up on an event or two so there was no way anyone could speculate about him being with Rihanna. Is Karrueche just content with Chris tatting her face on his arm so she knows it’s real?
Or maybe she doesn’t mind letting a dog roam. Sources told US Weekly, she’s fully aware of Chris’ creeping but that she “won’t give him up for a few discretions.” If this part of the story is true then she’s not a better woman than me, she’s just dumb. But insider rumors being what they are, hopefully she’s not so wrapped up in the flyness that is Chris Brown that she would knowingly be OK with him cheating.
This whole situation is just way too complicated and messy for 23-year-olds and I have a feeling it’s about to get uglier once this new track drops. Most couples have a hard rule about remaining friends with exes and Chris and Rihanna seem to be doing a whole lot more than that. I’m starting to wonder whether Karrueche is really Chris’ girlfriend or if she’s just a diversion from what’s really going on in his love life.
