AKRON, Ohio – A 4-year-old boy has died after being shot in the head Wednesday.

According to Akron Police Lt. Rick Edwards, a Summit County Sheriff deputy was in the area of South Arlington Street and Davies Avenue when he was flagged down by a male driver.

The man told the deputy that his 4-year-old son had been shot.

The deputy located the child’s body inside of a Ford Taurus. There was a bullet hole in the roof of the car.

The child was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:31 a.m.

The Summit County Medical Examiner identified Jamarcus Allen, of Akron, as the victim.

The child’s father is at the Akron Police Department for questioning. Police said they are not sure when, where or why the shooting happened and continue to investigate.
