dc woman ambulance

A D.C. woman who believed she was suffering a stroke was forced to transport herself to the hospital after two stubborn EMTs got into a heated spat.

Rose Preston told NBC Washington that she was concerned for her welfare when two male D.C. Fire & EMS employees came to blows after the ambulance arrived.

“They were constantly bickering back and forth with one another, and to the point that I felt so uncomfortable,” Preston told the station on Sunday.

It was unclear what the two paramedics were arguing about, but Preston said that she feared for her safety.

Preston wasn’t sure why the two first responders were fighting, but it quickly became clear to the Army veteran that she had to take her treatment into her own hands.

Preston brought herself to the D.C. Metro and took a train to her local VA hospital that day.
