A 10-year-old boy from Pennsylvania was charged as an adult in the beating death of a 90-year-old woman, authorities said.

Tristen Kurilla, of Damascus Township, was visiting his grandfather Anthony Virbitsky on Saturday during the suspected murder, according to local media.

“I killed that lady,” he reportedly told a trooper at the state police barracks.

Kurilla said that approximately 10 a.m. he wanted to ask a question to Helen Novak, a woman in his grandfather’s care. But the woman yelled at him to go away when he entered her room, according to the boy.

Kurilla lost his temper, retrieved a wooden cane and reentered the room where Novak was sitting upright in her bed, The Scranton Times-Tribune reported.

“I was only trying to hurt her,” he allegedly told police.

Cops say Kurilla hooked the cane around her neck and pushed it into her throat for four to five seconds before punching her five times in the throat and five times in the stomach, the local paper said.

The boy told Virbitsky that the woman was bleeding from her mouth, according to police.

The grandfather said she was “breathing heavy and looked scared” about 10:30 a.m. and became unresponsive around 11 a.m., police said.

An autopsy on Monday confirmed that her death was a homicide, reported WNEP.

The suspect is being held at Wayne County Correctional Facility on no bond.
