LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t win these most recent NBA Finals, but that didn’t prevent ESPN from granting King James an ESPY award for his remarkable performance in that series.

James led all players — including NBA MVP Steph Curry — in points (35.8), assists (8.8) and rebounds (13.3).

LeBron appeared genuinely surprised that he’d won the award, later citing that the Cavs did come up short. He then gracefully commended the Golden State Warriors for their victory.

“Second place got me this. This wasn’t expected at all,” James acknowledged. “I’ll take this second place award. I’ll take it to my house, too.”

Congrats to LeBron and the entire Cavaliers roster for a great season!
