Join We Run This City Youth Marathon Program on Monday, February 22, 2016 as they cheer on the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quickens Loan Arena vs the Detroit Pistons. Support WRTC in this special fundraiser night of fun! Youth attendees will have the chance to HI FIVE the Cavs on the court!! The We Run This City Youth Marathon Program is a collaboration between the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, Cleveland Metropolitan School District, the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon, the Cleveland Department of Public Health and Case Western Reserve University Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods.
Since 2006, over 6,000 Cleveland youth have participated in the program. Most student runners put in 25 training miles at their schools, then finish their “marathons” with a 1.2 mile run as part of the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon. Other kids complete the 10k and half-marathon on Race Day. A few elite student runners run the full marathon of 26.2 miles. But crossing the finish line is just the beginning! Students leave the program with greater self-confidence and increased levels of fitness and endurance. Help these kids out by supporting their program.
