I Just Want You

Dreezy released her debut album, No Hard Feelings, earlier this month, which featured the Chicago singer and rapper exploring everything from the heaviest of drill records to more traditional R&B slow jams. Much of the LP fell somewhere between the two extremes, as does Dreezy’s new freestyle, “I Just Want You,” which finds her taking on a beat built off of a sample from Miguel’s “Simple Things,” transforming the Wildheart singer’s piercing tenor into a syrupy chopped & screwed refrain. After letting the sample breathe for the first minute, Dreezy enters with some slick bars directed at an ex-lover, picking up where the tales of complicated relationships on NHF left off.
