Bun B Uninjured, but Hospitalized After Car Wreck

*Rapper Bun B and his manager were briefly hospitalized today after a car accident in New York. The artist was on his way to an interview with Billboard magazine when the taxi he was a passenger in collided with another vehicle. Bun B and Pimp C’s Widow Chinara Host Annual Health Fair

Surviving UGK member Bun B will team with Pimp C’s widow for this year’s annual Chad ‘Pimp C’ Butler Hip Hop, Health & Wellness Festival.

The event, which is now in its third year, offers HIV/STD testing immunization shots and other services to benefit the local Houston community.

This year, there will be a Pimp C memorial exhibit, an art show and a raffle of a Wii video console.

The Pimp C Health Fair, which is in its third year, was started by the late rapper’s wife Chinara, to continue his legacy.

“Chad was a REAL Underground King, and believed in helping those less fortunate,” Chinara Butler told AllHipHop.com. “This event embodies what he was all about.”

The 3rd Annual Chad ‘Pimp C’ Butler Hip Hop, Health & Wellness Festival takes place this Saturday (December 10), from 2p-6p.

This year’s event will be held at the Fifth Ward Multi Service Center in the historic 5th Ward of Houston.

Pimp C died in a Los Angeles hotel room on December 4, 2007.

A coroner rules that the death was a combination of a drug overdose, along with sleep apnea.

Young Jeezy Concert With Kanye West & Jay-Z At Highline Ballroom [VIDEO]

The concert of the summer took place last night July 25 at the Highline Ballroom. Young Jeezy celebrated the sixth anniversary of his Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 album. Young Jeezy delivered a great concert, performing several of his street anthems. Jay-Z was on deck for the “Go Crazy (Remix),” Kanye West helped Young Jeezy “Put On” for New York City and Fabolous, Bun B, The Lox and more hit the stage. Before ending the show Jeezy announced Thug motivation 103 album will be in stores September 20th. Check out the full concert below.

BUN B, SLIM THUG, COOL & DRE REACT TO DEADLY MISSOURI TORNADO, “PLEASE PRAY FOR THEM” [VIDEO]

The remaining UGK member asked his Twitter followers to show support and send prayers to those affected in Joplin, Missouri.

“The city of Joplin, Missouri has been devastated by tornadoes. Over 80 people killed. 25-30% of the city is destroyed. Please pray for them.,” he tweeted Monday (May 23) morning. (Bun B’s Twitter)

Fellow Texas rapper Slim Thug also revealed his reaction and support following the destruction.

“Prayers out to everybody in Joplin, Missouri effected by the storm. I pray that if u have lost friends family or etc u have stength to recov,” he tweeted Monday. (Slim Thug’s Twitter)

While brief with their tweet, Miami production duo Cool & Dreaddressed the situation.

“Prayers go out to those affected by tornado in Joplin,Mo,” they tweeted Monday. (Cool & Dre’s Twitter)

President Barack Obama has released a statement promising to help in relief efforts.

“Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives in the tornadoes and severe weather that struck Joplin, Missouri as well as communities across the Midwest today. We commend the heroic efforts by those who have responded and who are working to help their friends and neighbors at this very difficult time. At my direction, FEMA is working with the affected areas’ state and local officials to support response and recovery efforts, and the federal government stands ready to help our fellow Americans as needed.” (CBS News)

The deadly tornado hit various areas of the Midwest beginning Sunday.

A second deadly outbreak of tornadoes in less than a month swept across the Midwest yesterday, causing damage from Wisconsin to Texas and killing at least 91 people. In Joplin, Missouri, 89 people are confirmed dead, according to the Associated Press, citing local emergency officials at a press conference today. At least one person was killed in Minneapolis yesterday and another in Kansas on May 21, according to the U.S. Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma. (Bloomberg)

After Big Pun, Five Other Rappers That Deserve Streets In Their Name

Over the weekend, Big Pun aficionados hit the streets and rallied to rename the Bronx, NY intersection of 163rd Street and Rogets Place as Big Pun Place. The spot, which houses the iconic Pun memorial painted by the TATS Cru, needs some petition signatures to have a shot at becoming official, but it got us thinking about some other hip-hop artists that deserve their own streets. Here’s our top 5:

Jay-Z – No brainer, right? The only question here is which way to view the ever-versatile Brooklyn MC. While Madison Avenue, with its mixture of business and advertising, might be in play when all is said and done, we’ll suggest that Hov’s former home off of Marcy Avenue in Brooklyn would be the perfect fit.

New name: Jay-Z Avenue

Lil Wayne - Lil Wayne may have spent most of his life on a tour bus, but that doesn’t mean his New Orleans roots are forgotten. The Young Money leader grew up at 1800 Hollygrove in the city’s 17th Ward, and he’s surely enough of an icon to get honored for spreading unique New Orleans flavor all over the rap landscape.

New name: Lil Wayne Lane

RZA – In a perfect world, every member of The Wu-Tang Clan would have their own street. Yet as the group’s leader, RZA gets first pick. In his memoirs, Tao of Wu, the Clan leader wrote about growing up in Staten Island’s Stapleton Projects and we think the borough’s Targee Street has his name all over it. Also, yes, RZA did live with Ghostface Killah for awhile, but Ghostface Avenue might be a little intimidating for the Department of Transportation.

New name: RZA Road

Nate Dogg - In a Long Beach walking tour with Vice Magazine, Nate Dogg once talked about how his teen residence at 2022 Lime Avenue was where he really started focusing on music. “A preacher lived next door, and a killer on the other side,” he explained. Well, that sounds like the exact combination that Nate explored throughout his storied career. If anything, hip-hop’s top crooner deserves a little pavement in his name.

New name: Nate Dogg Street

UGK - Before linking up with Pimp C to form the gold standard of Texas hip-hop duo UGK, Bun B spent his formative years in Port Arthur, TX. Talk to locals, and it seems that any street in the town could be named after the duo, yet we’ll go with San Antonio Street — home to the biggest UGK mural and a fitting tribute to the trillest underground kings.

New name: UGK Way
