ROY, Utah – Roy officers arrested Alexsa Mirabal, 31, after they say she posed as a boy online and tried to lure a teenage girl into having sexual relations. Mirabal was arrested on five counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16-year-old. Police say that the suspect tried to engage with the teen over the social network site MySpace by posing as a teenage boy named “Alex.”

Police say there are two known victims, both 16-year-old girls. They say one of the girls was abused for about two years, while the second girl they say Mirabal got to know through a coworker.

“For a year she had the opportunity to know her both ways, as 31-year-old friend of her mothers and as a 17-18-year-old boyfriend on the internet,” says Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham.

Police say that over the past year Mirabal was posing as a teenage boy named “Alex” while in contact with the teen. Officers say Mirabal often pretended to be the boy during phone calls to the 16-year-old, evenually revealing her true self — a 31-year-old woman.

Police say they were notified after Mirabal was having a physical relationship with another 16-year-old girl and both girls learned about each other.

“The 16-year-old victims in both cases have very strong emotional feelings and that’s part of the abuse and the control,” says Whinham.

Police say that Mirabal has her own Facebook page that says she has a daughter along with 129 friends . On her MySpace “Alex” page police say she has many more young friends.

“Looking at the 100-plus other young women in that age group of 15 to 20 that she has been friends with while she’s been Alex the boy.”

Police are going through Mirabal’s “Friends” list on each social networking site to find out if there are any other alleged victims. Roy Police are asking if anyone has had contact with Mirabal or her online name, Alex, to contact them.
