Drake‘s mother is out of the loop when it comes to her famous son’s romantic life.
The 23-year-old rap star jokingly tweeted that he was “marrying” rap newcomer Nicki Minaj on August 27. “Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham and don’t stare at her too long,” the Canadian rapper tweeted, “She’s finally mine.”
“Yes, it’s true,” replied the 25-year-old beauty, who was in on the joke. Unfortunately, Drake left one very important person out of the joke–his mother:
My mom was actually like, ‘What happened? How did you elope?’ But we were just joking around. I never thought it would get so out of hand.
Oopsie!
Luckily, Drake eventually clued his mom in and explained that he was not marrying Nicki.
While Drake may not be getting married any time soon, he still got to wear a nice tux as he performed with Swizz Beatz and Mary J. Blidge at the VMAs on Sunday night. Watch Drake’s performance below.
