Common recently performed at The White House amidst controversy over First Lady Michelle Obama’s invitation to him. This week Conservatives including Sarah Palin and correspondents at FOX News (of course) criticized both Common and First Lady Obama for giving him an invitation, siting that lyrics in his past music were inappropriate. Thankfully the First Lady nor Common were fazed and he indeed performed at The White House.
Jill Scott also was invited to perform for the White House poetry night.
