RUPERT Murdoch was attacked by a man throwing a plateful of foam in a frightening protest at his much-watched appearance before a parliamentary committee in London last night.
Mr Murdoch’s wife Wendi instantly leapt from her front-row seat and threw the plate back at the assailant, with witnesses saying she cried: “I got him, I got him.”
Mr Murdoch’s son James also jumped to his feet with a horrified look on his face and moved towards the attacker, who was quickly arrested and taken away in handcuffs.
The dramatic intervention forced an adjournment of the committee hearing and followed a loud but peaceful protest at the start of the hearing.
Sky News named the attacker as a comedian called Jonnie Marbles who had signalled his intentions via a Twitter post, writing: “It is a far better thing that I do now than I have ever done before #splat.”
