Will Smith is now a part owner of the Philadelphia 76ers. The ‘Men in Black’ star has chosen an unusual time to invest in a professional basketball team, as the NBA is currently facing lockout controversy.
According to Gossip Cop, Will Smith is a sucker for his hometown team. Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett, were announced as part owner of the Philadelphia 76ers, which is led by billionaire Joshua Harris.
Will and Jada are not the first celebrities to co-own a NBA team. Most famously, Jay-Z is the man behind the newly renamed, Brooklyn Nets. He and wife, Beyonce, are staples court side at most home games.
Cleveland fans can watch Will Smith’s Philadelphia 76ers when the hit Quicken Loans Arena, when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2011-2012 NBA season.
