Lil Wayne Respect women at all times? Sounds a little hypocritical coming from a rapper who spews nothing but misogynistic lyrics…
MTV: As the controversy surrounding Nicki Minaj’s flap with Hot 97 DJ Pete Rosenberg begins to die down, her friend and boss Lil Wayne has finally stepped out to offer his side of the story.
In case you’ve forgotten, Minaj was slated to play Hot 97′s Summer Jam earlier this month, but Wayne — the head of her Young Money label — pulled her out after Rosenberg said Minaj’s single “Starships” wasn’t “real hip-hop” on the radio.
Things heated up after that, but now after weeks of silence, Wayne spoke to MTV about his decision. “That’s a female,” the “Lollipop” rapper explained. “First and foremost, Nicki Minaj is a female. I don’t know what anyone else believes, but I believe females deserve the ultimate respect at all times no matter, when or where or how.”
“As soon as she called me and told me she felt disrespected, I just declined everything,” Weezy continued. “I pulled her from the show because … no person that works with me will be disrespected in my presence as long as I’m on this planet.”
