Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta’s K. Michelle may have may be racking up the enemies lately, but Keyshia Cole isn’t one of them.

When the singer and reality star debuted on the scene, many compared her to the already established R&B singer calling her “The new Keyshia Cole”.  She didn’t like that comparison and told theJasmineBrand.com that it was “annoying and depressing” because she’s more of a “rhythmic artist” and didn’t think like nor relate to Keyshia Cole and Mary J. Blige. After that, she told Urban Daily that Keyshia had a problem with her:

I don’t know what her problem is with me, but I have no problem with her.  I bought every single Keyshia Cole album.  She continues to take shots at me, and I continue to turn the other cheek.  Because this is how I feel about it:  If you’re hot, nobody can take your spot.  It is what it is.  God gave her that spot; I can’t take it.  She has a little boy, I have a little boy.  I support her.  I have no problem with Keyshia,  I want to see her succeed.  I love her new record, but the blows being thrown on Twitter have got to stop; we’re two grown women, two black women, and we need to come together.

People will compare you in order to be comfortable with letting you in the game.  It did kind of anger me, but I had a recent conversation that made me feel better.

Apparently that beef was cleared up because earlier this summer, K. Michelle tweeted:

Small things matter the most. The call I had with @keyshiacole was very Positive,&uplifting. Truly luv her spirit. Real recognize real!

In an effort to hear from both sides, this morning when Keyshia Cole sat down with The Breakfast Club, they asked her about the beef citing last year’s Urban Daily interview. Without skipping a beat, Keyshia said she doesn’t have an issue:

“We’re good. I feel like, when I came into the business you have that somebody that you say, ‘She set limits for me and know that I can reach that plateau’, and I feel like I am that for K. Michelle like Mary was that for me. And if it’s not K. Michelle, if the fans aren’t receptive to her then whoever comes after K. it’s gon’ be all G. I’ve already done a lot of things that people are tryin’ do and I’m gonna give you the best advice to you and if you call me I’m gonna let you know what it is, I’m going to let you know my my personal feelings and let you know my beliefs about the industry and anything I can do to help… as long as it’s not money.”

In an industry where it always seems like artists are always pitted against each other and then fall into unnecessary extended spats (a la Nicki Minaj and Lil’ Kim), it’s nice to hear Keyshia support K. Michelle. There’s no reason to hate each other anyway. Today’s MP3 players hold more music than ever and iTunes has room for  everybody’s album.
