Following the release of Big Sean’s “Control” and the bold Kendrick Lamar verse included on the song, a number of emotions circled the Hip Hop community thanks to the Compton rapper’s lyrical call to action on the record. But according to 50 Cent, there are only two artists who should be upset about Kendrick’s verse and they are fellow “Control” collaborators Big Sean and Jay Electronica.

50 Cent  revealed that if he were Big Sean he would have changed his “Control” verse after hearing Kendrick’s.

“I would have did it. I would have changed it,”

said 50 Cent.

“It’s his record. It’s Big Sean’s record and nobody knows. Nobody’s talking about it. Everybody talking about Kendrick…All I think Flex is when the people that should really be upset should be Big Sean and Jay Electronica. Cause he’s saying what his intentions are and they done forgot your verses was on the joint. You know what I mean? Like he did it. He got it. That was the real hit.”

50 Cent went on to label Kendrick’s verse as

“a breath of fresh air.”

“Before I could get a chance to really listen to it I got the call. I got the call first and I spoke to Top. Me and him got a real good relationship. The guy who runs that whole company…When you listen to what he’s saying on the record, he’s saying—it’s a breath of fresh air for me because it’s saying there’s no more ‘kumbaya my Lord.’ Everybody’s not sitting by the campfire being friends,”

the Before I Self Destruct rapper explained.

“The competitive energy, that’s necessary for Hip Hop. That’s what it is. I think our culture—our culture’s competitive.”

50 Cent also commented on his now cordial relationship with fellow rapper Nas and his less than cordial relationship with famed music executive Steve Stoute.

“We had a chance to kick it for a second and you know a lot of it, I think [it] cleared it up for him,”

said 50 Cent while speaking on his relationship with Nas.

“You know what I’m saying? I kinda put it together after the fact, what was happening. Because Stout was helping him make a lot of decisions, that’s why I don’t like Steve Stoute. I still don’t like him. He got these ways with him that’s like I guess it’s acceptable for business, but it’s not acceptable for people, like a person that you actually interact with. He’s the guy that’ll have you come to speak to him for confirmation that things are the way they are and then can’t find his way to answer the telephone. But then run his way to you as soon as the deal’s already taking place.”
