Robin Thicke and Paula Patton may be going through a separation, but the “Lost Without You” singer says he and his wife of nine years are in a great place.
During a recent interview with People, 37-year-old star said he and the mother of his 3-year-old son Julian are much happier apart.
“We’re both doing well. We’re both very happy right now – much happier,” he shared. “Everything about this moment in my life – this amazing year I just had and what I’m going through personally – has actually ignited some of the best writing I’ve done in a long time.”
Robin, who has no problem confessing his love for his wife on stage, said fans deserve to know his real feelings. “My music is very honest about what I’m going through and my songs are about my life,” he explained. “And my relationship with her was 21 years of my life, so I just thought it was important to me to let people know how much she means to me.”
Although Paula hasn’t shared her feelings publicly, Robin said she was touched by his heartfelt words.
“She loved it,” he added. “She thought it was the sweetest thing and very romantic, and I’ve always been a romantic guy that way.”
Everyone wants to know the reason for their separation and the blue-eyed soul star said answers are coming soon. “Whatever everybody’s wondering about, they’re going to hear it all in the album,” he revealed.
As far as his new life as a “single” guy, Robin said he wants to “be a great father and hopefully write some great music, put on some great shows and be a great friend to Paula.”
Sorry die-hard fans, it doesn’t look like they plan on rekindling the flame anytime soon.
