Last month we told you about an alleged incident involving “Scandal” star Columbus Short. In case you somehow missed it, the troubled actor reportedly punched a man, knocking him out cold during an engagement party at Gabe’s Bar and Grill in California. According to eyewitnesses, the altercation was triggered after the unnamed man made some nasty remarks to Short about his, wife, Tanee McCall-Short.

Interestingly, the alleged victim is refusing to press charges against the actor due to family ties, but we hear he’s looking to settle out of court. However, this doesn’t stop the courts from interfering with case. According to Chron, the case was heard in court today and prosecutors petitioned for a restraining order, which will prohibit Short from coming in contact with the alleged victim.

Columbus was charged with felony aggravated battery in relation to the incident last month. He is currently free on $50,000 bail and faces up to four years in prison if he is convicted.
