Famed producer Rodney Jerkins is celebrating his 20th anniversary in the music business by recruiting new artists to cover some of his biggest hits. One of the first songs is a planned remake of the 1998 Monica and Brandy classic “The Boy Is Mine”….with Ariana Grande and Jessie J.  You read that right.

He’ll also redo Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” with “Stay With Me” crooner Sam Smith. Sam is VERY excited about the project. During a talk with Hits Daily Double, Rodney relayed Sam’s response saying:

“Sam told me [that] was the song that made him want to sing. When I asked him if he’d be a part of this project, he was like, ‘No one else can do that song but me!’

Alrighty then….are we all excited that some of R&B’s greatest hits are getting the re-do by some of today’s hottest (non-Black) artists? Maybe Rodney can recruit Justin Bieber to remake “Say My Name” or Taylor Swift for “He Wasn’t Man Enough”?  Since we’re going down this road and all…
