It’s hard out here for a brand trying to connect with ~*tHe yOutH*~. You try to get on their level by using their slang, but you still end up mocked on Brands Saying Baebecause you tried to shoehorn “on fleek” into a tweet about roast beef sandwiches. The latest victim of this paradox is IHOP, who on Wednesday got called out by none other than Nicki Minaj for using a Rae Sremmurd lyric in a tweet about pancakes.

After noticing that someone on IHOP’s social media team had altered the first line of the hit “No Type” to be about flapjacks (the original lyric mentions “bad bitches” as the only thing that they like), Nicki replied and told the offending tweeter to “sit dat ass down.”

Since then, IHOP’s Twitter account has remained curiously free of any egregious pop-culture references, so perhaps whoever is in charge heard Nicki’s message loud and clear. You’re playing with fire, IHOP. Proceed with caution.
