After a nine-hour operation, a man who lost his penis after complications from a standard circumcision procedure has been #blessed with a “fully functional” new penis, via transplant, for the first time in medical history, according to doctors at at the Stellenbosch University and Tygerberg Hospital in South Africa.

“We’ve proved that it can be done — we can give someone an organ that is just as good as the one that he had,” said the head of the plastic surgery department in their official statement, managing to not only achieve a landmark in the field of medicine but throw some shade at the poor dude’s previous wang. The transplanted penis successfully given to the 21-year-old patient was from a deceased organ donor.

The first transplant attempt was in China in 2006, which had to be reversed two weeks after the procedure because the patient developed psychological problems…
