Stacey Dash tried to brush off wage equality as nothing more than an excuse for women not to succeed, but Meredith Vieira hit her with some hard facts about the problem.
The former “Single Ladies” star is really earning that pay check from FOX News. When she appeared on Meredith’s show, she explained that she believes women can’t claim that wage inequality is holding them back financially. In her view, women have the potential to earn just as much as men, but suggested that they have no one but themselves to blame if they don’t.
“I feel like it’s an excuse. It’s the same thing with race,” said Stacey, who seemed very confident in her opinion. “Stop making excuses. If there are opportunities seize them, and be prepared for them. And be the best, if that’s what it takes.”
She added, “If you have to be extraordinary, then be extraordinary.”

That argument didn’t sit well with Meredith, who explained her opinion that it is harder for women to be as financially successful as men, when their pay checks don’t measure up.
“I feel like we’re fighting an uphill battle. When you look at the numbers, we’re making 78 cents for every dollar that a man makes,” Meredith said, adding that her 22-year-old daughter isn’t likely to be compensated equitably until she’s about ready to retire. “At the rate we’re going…we’ll be 65 before there’s pay equality.
Stacey then openly questioned the validity of Meredith’s research and what it suggests about how women are valued in the workplace, stating, “I don’t know if that’s true.”
Oh, but it is true, Stacey. Meredith pointed out that the numbers have been documented. Factually speaking, Stacey could no longer deny that women are paid less, but she was still not sold on how that is a systematic problem.
“I guess I won’t put my fate into anything other than my own action and taking my destiny in my hands. I will not play victim to anything,” she said. “If you want to be pissed off about it, then be pissed off about it and work harder for it. But I don’t think us, you know, complaining about it, because there was a law passed that we get paid equal pay.”
While there is a law on the books that women should be getting paid on par with men, Meredith that that still hasn’t quite been reflected in payrolls, saying, “Except we don’t. We don’t!”
We wonder how much money Stacey’s making in comparison to her male counterparts at FOX.
