Funeral arrangements and memorial services have been planned for former U.S. Congressman Louis Stokes, who died last week at the age of 90.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, Aug. 24. Stokes will lie in state inside the Cleveland City Hall Rotunda, located at 601 Lakeside Avenue, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Although the viewing is until 5 p.m., anyone who wishes to attend should be in line by 4 p.m.

An Appreciation Program will follow that evening, also open to the public. The program will take place at City Hall beginning at 5:45 p.m. with a special tribute from Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. The Appreciation Program will include remarks from retired Missouri Congressman William Clay, who served in the U.S. House of Representatives with Stokes, former Ohio Congresswoman Mary Rose Oakar, along with Mayor Frank Jackson and other Cleveland business leaders, friends and associates.
