2015 NBA Finals - Game One

The Cavaliers‘ chances of beating the Warriors in the Finals would’ve increased tremendously if Kyrie Irving‘s kneecap kept it together. But it broke and LeBron James was essentially left to fend for himself against a hungry Golden State squad.

At least, Irving (and Kevin Love, who got a dislocated shoulder in the first round) will be back this season to make another run at the title, right? Yes, but he’ll be back later than many expected.‘s Chris Haynes reported that Irving may not be back until this January. His sources say that Irving’s chances of playing in the season opener are very slim.

This isn’t to say that Irving’s recovery has suffered a setback. In fact, he was cleared by doctors to start working out in July and seemed to be recovering ahead of schedule.

However, without Irving in the mix, the Cavs are still one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. The point is winning a championship, though, and that’s harder to do if Irving gets himself re-injured for getting back on the court too fast.
