Money and Violence, the hit web series about Brooklyn’s criminal underworld, will be back for a new season early next year.

But instead of YouTube, the show will premiere only on Tidal, after show creator and star Moetivation inked a new deal with Jay-Z’s streaming music service, he told BOSSIP.

“It’s definitely an amazing thing,” Moetivation said. “What carried the project was the storyline alone. That different perspective hadn’t been seen on TV before.”

Moetivation, who plays the show’s anti-hero, Rafe, said there are plans in the works with Lionsgate Films to bring season three to premium cable, like HBO.

Despite Money and Violence’s first season being shot on a barebones budget, the each episode got more than 500,000 views on YouTube. It’s last season ended with a cliffhanger, where drug dealer-robbing Rafe gets shot. Moetivation wouldn’t divulge whether his character makes it to season two, but he said next season will focus on the past.

“All I can tell you is that we’re going to go into the backstory just to help people understand the characters,” he said. “Help them understand why they are the way they are.”
