In todays addition of poor decisions,Lahoma Oklahoma Mayor Theresa Sharp is under fire for her husbands decision to dress as a member of the KKK (Ku Klux Klan) for Halloween.
Cary Sharp and several of his friends and family were seen in pictures and on video carrying torches, burning crosses and terrorizing those trick or treating in the neighborhood.
He is now saying it was all a joke. “[A] cousin of mine came up with the idea of dressing up like KKK members, and so we took a couple of sheets and cut holes in them and wore the sheets, and it was a very, very poor decision,” Cary said to a local news station.
He also added, “I never realized it would have been so harmful. I truly apologize to everybody for this.”
Coincidentally, an African American reporter was sent to cover the story. In the news piece, anchor Mecca Rayne said, “I had a long conversation with the Mayor and she’s truly sorry for what her husband did last night.”
Mayor Sharp fought back tears while saying, “It was the stupidity and actions of four separate individuals and it does not reflect on me or anyone else in the community.”
According to The Root, though Sharp and his friends did not commit any crimes, “the case may be turned over to the district attorney’s office for review.”
Did the Mayor not see her husband leave the house dressed in a sheet? If you were a resident of Lahoma, would you vote for Theresa Sharp again?
