Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreak wouldn’t have existed without T-Pain’s “Rappa Ternt Sanga”.

We know that T-Pain was involved in the writing of Kanye West‘s 808s & Heartbreak, but last he spoke about it, he revealed that ‘Ye had dismissed his ideas as “weak,” even recording a strange “diss” track in the midst of the sessions.

Still, according to Pain, the album was very much shaped by his own album,Rappa Ternt Sanga, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this week.

Speaking to Billboard, Pain referred to 808s as a “direct copy” of his debut when speaking about the extensive influence of the album.

“I’m not just being a dick saying that shit sounds a lot like mine,” the hitmaker clarified. “Like literally [Kanye] told me that he listened to Rappa Ternt Sanga and he made 808s & Heartbreak“.
