How incredibly awesome would it be if both Barack AND Michelle Obama were President of the United States? We think FLOTUS could easily give Hillary Clinton a run for her money but President Obama says, not so fast!
During a rally in Baton Rogue, Louisiana where he participated in an #AskPOTUS social media session, the President was asked if Mrs. Obama will put her bid in for the Oval Office?
“No, no, no” he began. “Let me tell you that there are three things that are certain in life: death, taxes, and Michelle is not running for president. That I can tell you.”
The demands of the job have been visually demanding to the President who has a head full of gray hair and more wrinkles than when he took office seven years ago. The 54-year-old was able to poke fun at himself in sharing that he was recently looked at he and Michelle’s wedding video from 1992, “Not only is she going to be a very young ex-first lady, unlike me she looks young” he said.
“I sure have aged, I know that, but Michelle, she looks identical!”
He went on to praise his wife’s successful initiatives including “Let’s Move” to end childhood obesity and “Better Make Room” which encourages students to pursue a college education. “I could not be prouder of her, and I am certain that she’s going to be really active as a [former] first lady.
If President Obama was already the best source to confirm whether or not FLOTUS has a political future, former communications director for the Obama administration, Kristina Schake, humorously told Politico, “She is as likely to put her name in contention to be the next pope as she is to run for political office.”
While being the Commander In Chief may seem exciting to some, Mrs. Obama is ready to relax and have a sense of normalcy return when she and the President leave The White House. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, the First Lady said she hasn’t even been able to open a window in the past seven years!
“I look forward to getting in a car and rolling down the window and just letting the air hit my face. I mean I haven’t been in a car with the windows open in about seven years if you can imagine that. So I’m gonna spend that first year just hanging out the window.”
Apart of her “new normal” will also include shopping at Target!
We hope Mrs. Obama will eventually decide to run for office. Hillary Clinton is 68-years-old while Mrs. Obama is only 51! So FLOTUS has nearly 20 years to change her mind!
