There was a pseudo-Hot Boy$ reunion when Mannie Fresh brought together Lil Wayne and Juvenile for his recent single, “Hate,” which also featured Birdman.

The group, which also included B.G. and Turk, was popular in the late 1990s and there has been hope for a Hot Boy$ reunion, especially when the members, minus B.G., performed with Lil Wayne at his Lil Weezyana Fest in August.

The business became more complicated when, in December 2014, Lil Wayne demanded off Cash Money Records and then filed a $51 million lawsuit against Birdman, Cash Money Records’ CEO, claiming Birdman was holding Tha Carter V. The two have been seenphotographed together, but in a recent interview with Genius, Mannie Fresh reveals that Birdman, who also goes by Baby, and Lil Wayne are still on the path to reconciliation.

“I can see how paperwork and foolishness can destroy something,” the producer says, hoping “Hate” helped the recovery process along. “Everything is not resolved with him and Wayne, but I overcame it by saying to them, ‘We can resolve all that behind the curtain, but for now, let’s make music for the people.’ When it all started coming together, the brotherly love came out. We did the song, then, ‘I wish you the best. We should do it more often.'”
