Chance The Rapper speaks on hurdles he faces with The Grammys and reveals who he is voting for in Billboard’s new cover story.

Billboard magazine enlists a few Grammy hopefuls for their latest cover, bringing together three starkly different artists for a “candid convo between best new artist hopefuls.” Chance The Rapper nabbed one of the spots, alongside Def Jam singer Alessia Cara, and Columbia artist Maren Morris.

During the interview with the three artists, Chance speaks about some of the difficulties both he and women face when it comes to the prestigious award ceremony.

“Pretty much the same challenges that they face throughout the rest of the world in terms of being overlooked, underappreciated and held back from a lot of stuff,” Chance says during the cover story, “Colorism and racism don’t stop when you’re a musician or when you have wealth or when you’re in any given position. Kendrick [Lamar] going home Grammy-less [in 2014, when he was nominated in seven categories] was an awesome moment for people to recognize that it plagues us regardless of talent or skill.”
