Mariah releases an official statement regarding her infamous TV moment on Twitter.

Mariah Carey is certainly not to blame for her now-infamous performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, though according to her, this wasn’t as simple as an unavoidable technical difficulty.

While she’s done a few interviews since the airing, Mariah has shared a statement on her Twitter account, suggesting that producers of the show took advantage of the failings of Mariah’s in-ear monitors.

“I haven’t really addressed the situation that happened on New Year’s Eve, and in time I will,” she said. “For now, I want everyone to know that I came to New Year’s Eve in New York in great spirits and was looking forward to a celebratory moment with the world. It’s a shame that we were put into the hands of a production team with technical issues who chose to capitalize on circumstances beyond our control.”
