Cam Newton wants to put his mistakes in the past.
The 28-year-old NFL player has apologized for a comment he made to a female reporter that many people saw as sexist and demeaning. Newton posted his apology video on Thursday evening, admitting that he regrets ever making the “routes” comment to begin with.
“If you are a person that took offense to what I said, I sincerely apologize,” Newton said. “I’m a man that tries to be a positive role model for my community and tries to use my platform to inspire others. I take ownership to everything that comes with that and what I did was extremely unacceptable.”
