Aschool built by LeBron James. When LeBron isn’t busy being the second highest paid player in NBA history, marketing his wildly successful Nike sneaker line, and dominating the league he’s apparently been looking into building his own school. And his plans were finally approved in his hometown of Ohio.

The I Promise School will be geared towards kids who are at risk of failing out. The students will have longer days and begin classes in the summer in an effort to fight the one thing that hinders kids at the beginning of the school year—retention.

The I Promise School is set to open in Fall 2018 and composed of third and fourth graders who are enrolled via lottery system for now, and will eventually add other grades later on. According to USA Today, the school hopes to expand and include first and second graders by Fall 2019.

King James released a statement about the school back in April when it was first announced.

“This school is so important to me because our vision is to create a place for the kids in Akron who need it most—those that could fall through the cracks if we don’t do something. We’ve learned over the years what works and what motivates them, and now we can bring all of that together in one place along with the right resources and experts. If we get to them early enough, we can hopefully keep them on the right track to a bigger and brighter future for themselves and their families.”

Tying in another one of James’ ventures, New York-based production company Warrior Poets is set to start filming a documentary at the school with James’ SpringHill Entertainment production company.
