In this snippet of a sprawling conversation, Jigga lays out the different ways an emcee can rock the mic on David Letterman’s new talk-show, My Guest Needs No Introduction. Suave in a suit and kicks, Jay uses the examples of Snoop Dogg’s one-of-a-kind voice and Eminem’s super unique cadence as examples. “You can have a great voice, right, and you can just almost say anything,” said Jay. “I think Snoop Dogg has a great voice, like, he can say ‘one, two, three, and to the four,’ and it’s like oh my God!” He’s not the only one who thinks Snoop’s voice is special. He’s been the ambassador for a number of brands based on that uncommon tenor. It’s helped him go viral in numerous clips including his GGN Youtube channel teaming up with Jimmy Kimmel for “Plizzanet Earth,” which had the web in stitches as he voiced an altercation between a crocodile and a bevy of otters.

But Hov wasn’t done. He also broke down one of the reasons Eminem is such a beast. “Or you can be someone like Eminem and just have amazing cadence,” said Jay. “Almost like the syncopation … and almost become this percussion inside the music.” Of course, Eminem’s flow has been the source of endless fascination for fans everywhere. Vox even did a video purely dedicated to flow, which, of course, included Eminem. In fact, if you search “Eminem flow” on YouTube, you’ll be greeted with over 900,000 search results related to the topic. They don’t call Marshall Mathers the “Rap god” for nothin.’

The next episode of Letterman’s My Guest Needs No Introduction will air on Netflix on April 7. Tune in, or, as Jay would say, “Get wit it or get lost.”
