CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –
Cleveland has found itself on the wrong-end of a joke again; this time during the opening monologue at the 2018 ESPYs Awards show.
The sports version of the Academy Awards was hosted by newly-retired racecar driver Danica Patrick.
“When LeBron hosted, he made fun of me too,” Patrick said during the show’s opening. “I’d say we’re even. JR Smith would say, ‘We’re up by one!’”
The joke, which was in reference to Smith’s NBA Finals Game 1 blunder, likely struck a nerve with most Clevelanders. It also received mixed reviews on social media.
Patrick also mocked James infamous “short suits” that he wore during the 2018 NBA Playoffs run.
