I saw this cartoon prior to the outrage that was sparked by it, I instantly found it offensive. Serena is portrayed as a brute while the other girl is portrayed as “dainty, sweet & innocent”. It is very sad to see that racist cartoons like these still make it to press in 2018. smh

A local newspaper in Australia is receiving a lot of backlash for a tasteless cartoon spoof of the incident that went down with Serena Williams and the umpire at the U.S. Open. One thing is for sure though, artist Mark Knight went way too far with this one.
The cartoon didn’t sit well with J.K. Rowling who tweeted, , “Well done on reducing one of the greatest sportswomen alive to racist and sexist tropes and turning a second great sportswoman into a faceless prop.”
