A Michigan woman has been sentenced to 30 days in jail after running over her 9-year-old son for refusing to go to school.
Last December, Tiffany Kosakowski was dropping her son, Julian, off to school. This day the little boy did not want to attend school and decided to walk back to his mother’s car
Kosakowski, well aware of her son’s presence, told her son to go back in the school and then backed the car out while Julian was alongside the car. The mother “admitted to moving the steering wheel from left to right, then accelerating the vehicle knowing [her son] continued to be next to the vehicle,” court documents indicate. The boy was hanging on to the car before losing his grip and getting ran over by Kosakowski, according to surveillance footage.
The boy survived the incident but suffered serious injuries including damage to his brain.
Tiffany appeared in court Thursday where she was issued a six-month sentence of which she will only be doing 30 days with the remaining days suspended.
