The Youtube sensation Dondria aka ‘Phat Phat’ who landed an unbelievable record deal with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def records, came to visit Cleveland yesterday. She graced Colby Colb with an exclusive interview in the sudio and gave Cleveland a taste of whats to come with her beautiful talents at the Z-VIP Concert last night. The 23 year old songstress and song writer has been compared to the likes of Beyonce and Keri Hilson. Truly Cleveland could not get enough of her song bird voice and genuine talent. This young lady went on a whim and shared with her peers on YouTube her favorite songs to sing. It was her renditions of Ciara’s Promise and Alicia Keys Diary that made her viewer hit totals reach 1 million +. With that kind of worldwide online fan base it surely will not be hard for this girl to climb the charts even when her album hits this summer. It was from those same YouTube videos that prompted one of her fans to contact her via email. That fan so happened to be Jermaine Dupri. Dondria spoke of this in her interview with Bijou Star last night:
“I got an email from someone saying that they’re Jermaine Dupri, but I didn’t believe it! I didn’t even respond because I was sure it was a hoax like ‘April Fools!’ So I didn’t respond even after numerous emails… but after a month or so of these emails from JD asking why I am not responding, I finally emailed him back and gave him my number and it was true! It was Jermaine Dupri calling, asking me to be in a video with Jagged Edge… I had know idea it would land me where I am today!”
I am sure she is glad that she answered that email! Dondria has been working closely with Jermaine Dupri and Usher Raymond on her way to stardom and fame. She sang a couple of songs from her upcoming album including ‘You are the One.’ You know I had my hand in the air singing right along with her. After the show many stood in line for an hour in order to show Dondria some Cleveland love, take pictures and get autographs from her.
