Eminem’s latest single, “Not Afraid,” has become the 16th song in the 52-year history of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart to debut at number one.

Em happens to be in good company as the only other artists to achieve such a feat include names like Whitney Houstin [“Exhale (Shoop Shoop)”], Michael Jackson (“You Are Not Alone”), and Lauryn Hill [“Doo Wop (That Thing)”] amongst others. Mariah Carey has had three singles debut in the top slot: “Fantasy,” “Honey,” and “One Sweet Day” (with Boyz II Men).

The last artist to debut at number one was Britney Spears whose single “3” debuted in the top slot in October 2009.

“Not Afraid” is the lead single from Eminem’s forthcoming seventh album, Recovery, due in stores June 18th.
