Thanks to comedian David Alan Grier, news anchors may never have to be as shame-faced as the KTLA reporter, Sam Rubin was, after confusing Samuel L. Jackson with Laurence Fishburne on national TV.
And as you may recall, Sam didn’t give an inch to ease Rubin’s embarrassment.
But David Alan Grier feels your pain, white people, and in his new infomercial, he may be credited for solving Hollywood’s most awkward problem — those moments when one black celebrity is confused with another. Samuel L. Jackson wasn’t the only debacle; let’s see, Alfre Woodard, Idris Elba, and Octavia Spencer all had their moments too.
So Grier asked buddy Jimmy Kimmel to help him out with an infomercial on the show and Kimmel obliged. This infomercial shown below for David Alan Grier’s “book” How To Tell Black People Apart is not only the funniest thing you’ll probably see all day, but it’s also just what the world needs.
In it, Grier shares the side-splitting acronym you’ll never remember: PATWWFLLM, which stands for “Pay Attention To What We F**king Look Like Motherf**kers!!!”
The book may not be real, but the problem sure is. Hopefully Grier’s spoof is as educational as it is hilarious…
