Now that all the controversy surrounding his death has died down, the family of Keith “Guru” Elam have finally announced plans for a memorial of the Gang Starr rapper.

The memorial, which will be for friends, family, and invited guests, will take place on Sunday, July 18th at the University of Massachussets in Boston.  The public will be allowed into the memorial after all of the invited attendees have been accomodated.  For those who are unable to attend, the family says they will post video of the memorial on a site they recently launched, GuruTributes.com.

It’s unknown whether or not Guru’s partner in the post-Gang Starr years, “Superproducer” Solar will be invited.
