Rapper 50 Cent has announced he will make a donation to UNICEF, after accepting money from the family of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi for a 2005 performance in Europe.
50 Cent performed for the Gaddafi family in 2005 at the Venice Film Festival, although he has not revealed the exact amount that he was paid for playing the private party.
According to reports, some celebs were even paid simply to attend the families swanky bashes in Europe and the United States.
“In light of the ongoing events in Libya, 50 Cent will be making a donation to UNICEF, which is providing vital relief supplies to meet the needs of women and children at risk during this crisis,” a spokesman for the artist told E! News yesterday (March 9th).
The rapper grows a list of musicians who have donated the huge fees they were paid for their appearances to charity.
So far, Mariah Carey, Nelly Furtado, Mariah Carey and Usher have donated their performance fees to various charities.
Meanwhile, forces loyal to Gaddafi continue to battle rebels attempting to over throw the Libyan dictator.
According to the International Red Cross, heavy fighting and airstrikes have resulted in a number of civilian casualties, as rebels attempt to gain control of the city of Bin Jawwad today.
