The NBA fined Lakers star Kobe Bryant $100,000 after cameras caught him yelling a gay slur at a referee during last night’s game. The incident went down during the 3rd quarter after Kobe got hit with a technical foul. The NBA star yelled for ref Bennie Adams and appears to mouth the words, “F**king f**got.”

TNT announcer Steve Kerr picked up on Bryant’s outburst and said: “You might wanna take the cameras off of him right now, for the children watching from home.” Now human rights groups like the Human Rights Campaign are demanding an apology.

NBA Commissioner David Stern says “Kobe’s comment during the game was offensive and inexcusable. While I’m fully aware that the game is emotional , such a distasteful term should not be tolerated.”

Kobe has since apologized for his saying the gay slur. He makes $25 million a year, that’s $300k a game. So a half – a game and he’ll be able to pay off the fine but he’s already said he’ll appeal the fine amount.
