Mary J. Blige covers the October 2011 issue of “EBONY” Magazine where she opens up about her be abused, drug use and rumors about a “rocky” marriage.  Get the deets and both of her covers inside….

As she celebrates 40-years of life, Mary J. Blige has reached a point of reflection and she talks candidly about it in the October issue of “EBONY.”  The two covers will go separately to the subscribers and one for the shelves

“I’m forty and really loving it. Forty feels so, so good,” she told the mag in a wide-ranging interview.

She says that while her album, My Life, focused on depression, her 10th album, My Life II: The Journey Continues “is about coming out of that hole and realizing that even when you’re happy, you, won’t be everyday.”

And that also extends to marriage.  The singer spoke about her own relationship saying,

“We have disagreements … marriage is wonderful, and marriage is very hard … if you are with the right person, the work is worth it.”

And in a particularly revealing moment, she opened up about how she felt when she learned about Amy Winehouse dying.

“When I got the text about Amy, I was lying down on the bed,  I got up and read the message about her death and just lay back down again. I kept getting up and laying back down for some reason. I’d always wanted to work with Amy, so I just couldn’t believe it really.  And then it hit me—that could have been me. That really could have been me!”
