In a pre-taped interview airing late Friday night, Beyonce was an open book with ABC News anchor Katie Couric for “20/20.” Watch the video inside….

During the interview, Beyonce revealed the reason she decided to do an intimate evening of concerts at the Roseland Ballroom saying:

“I felt like this music was so important to me and I wanted everyone to experience the music live, because it becomes something different It was. That was something important to me, because I think people get caught up in the music and the beat and the fun of the song, and they don’t realize that my music, it’s the story of my life. So telling the story was almost like telling my diary.”

She said she won’t reveal her actual due date because of safety concerns, but she was extremely emotional after her big VMAs reveal:

“Honestly, I just felt free. I really did, because I’d been holding the most exciting thing in for so long, and I just felt like, Wow, now I can enjoy and now I can just experience this the way that every woman should. So I felt so liberated, and I felt like, Oh, I can breathe and be happy. And, you know, it was a beautiful feeling. … I went straight off the stage and just cried. I hugged my mom, I hugged Jay and just cried. It was a beautiful day.”

“The truth is [why I won’t reveal due date], it’s safety. I just want to make sure I can have a peaceful day. And I want to make sure my child is protected.”
